Acquasol -- the Clean, Solar Solution to Australia's Energy and Water Problems

Imagine a shimmering field of mirrors generating solar energy and fresh drinking water for a city of 15,000. That's the vision water and power project developer Acquasol Infrastructure Ltd has for Port Augusta, South Australia. The project will both help reduce South Australia's greenhouse gas emissions and save the state millions of dollars each year in water subsidies for the Upper Spencer Gulf.

Acquasol's municipal-scale solar desalination plant represents a huge leap forward in the quest for for clean, green energy and water solutions in Australia. It represents a big win for the Murray River, a big step forward in building Australia's credentials as a technology leader in the battle against climate change and an opportunity to transform Port Augusta into a showcase of sustainable energy generation and sensible water use.

Acquasol's solar desalination project will:

1. be the world's largest standalone solar-powered desalination plant
2. harvest brine on land, eliminating marine environmental concerns
3. deliver greater national water security by increasing water market supply
